About

A partnership between the Louisiana Productivity Center’s Manufacturing Extension Partnership of Louisiana (MEPOL) and Louisiana Economic Development (LED), the initial focus of the Center for Lean Excellence has been to provide assistance to the Louisiana manufacturing sector, in particular those impacted by hurricanes Katrina and Rita.  Initial Lean assistance deliverables to manufacturers are funded with a $50,000 donation from the Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME). The focus then broadened to applying LEAN principles to other private industry sectors and public entities such as municipalities and parishes throughout Louisiana.  The Center is a key initiator for a new standard of excellence in Louisiana in the application of lean principles in both the private and public sectors.

MEPOL, in partnership with LED, has worked to secure funding for sustainability of the center.   The center will be self sustaining through project income and other funding sources.

In accordance with the mission of UL Lafayette and the purposes of the Center, the Center will educate and train manufacturers, other private industry sectors and public entities such as municipalities and parishes throughout Louisiana.
